A paradigm is made up of the assumptions, concepts, and beliefs that show how we view our world. And
that belief system will affect performance.
A common vicious cycle associated with performance anxiety:
- We pursue goals based on what we have been taught
to see as success. We try to measure up to these
standards.
- We rely heavily on outside approval or disapproval
to tell us if we are good enough, or have “measured
up.”
- When facing a challenging task, our attention becomes over-focussed on external measures of success
and validation.
- Resulting fear of failure causes nervousness and loss of
concentration, sabotaging task performance.
Shifting to a positive paradigm can boost confidence, motivation,
and therefore — RESULTS!
- Leave comparisons behind, putting vision and purpose
to work.
- Results and innovations come from focusing our
energies on performing the task itself,
not on how others will evaluate the outcome.
- With this mindset, we can turn in powerful products
and performances.
- With an approach based on internal values and self-directed
goals, Nancy Cetlin can help you create a renewed
vision for your future — maybe one you’ve
always had, but didn’t dare to follow.
